About the role
Responsibilities
- Devise and implement engineering test methodologies, test fixtures, and procedures using sophisticated metrology equipment.
- Design, set up, and execute high-precision measurements for powertrain components to verify design specifications or aging wear characteristics.
- Develop systematic software scripts and programming practices for measurement equipment.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for metrology systems and processes to enhance accuracy and reduce cycle times.
- Collaborate with product design, engineering, and quality assurance teams to validate measurement requirements.
- Analyze measurement data, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical direction to assigned technicians and ensure adherence to safety and 5S principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related ABET-accredited field.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience with GD&T, SPC, 3D modeling, and component design principles.
- 3+ years of experience using CAD software such as Siemens NX or AutoCAD.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
- Proven experience in metrology and measurement.
- Technical product knowledge in axles, engines, or transmissions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in an engineering-related field.
- 7+ years of directly applicable experience.
- Strong knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), vision systems, and advanced metrology tools.
- Experience with advanced script writing using Visual Basic or Visual C++.
- Practical knowledge of SAP software.
- Expertise in quality standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO/TS 16949.
