Metrology Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and support measurement and process engineering activities for Advanced Optics in Fuzhou.
• Develop new metrology gauges, equipment, algorithms, and software to support new product introduction (NPI).
• Establish and migrate metrology technologies from corporate R&D to production environments.
• Define requirements for equipment calibration, maintenance, and process flow integration.
• Provide leadership for the startup of new equipment lines and ensure process quality and repeatability.
• Design experiments and analyze data to identify improvements for metrology systems and production processes.
• Prepare technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and measurement protocols.
• Perform trend analysis on key metrics and implement corrective actions for chronic issues.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, optics, physics, or an equivalent scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering or technical role within a D&E or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of optics, optomechanical system design, and optical inspection/test systems.
• Proficiency in high-level programming such as MATLAB or other commercial packages for data and image processing.
• Excellent mathematical skills for algorithm development and data analysis.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence others and present to various management levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with metrology equipment specifically used for glass inspection.
• Working knowledge of Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Measurement Uncertainty Analysis.
• Experience in optical manufacturing, assembly processes, and device testing.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or experience with DMAIC projects.
