About the role
Responsibilities
- Use laser trackers and portable 3D metrology equipment to perform precision alignments and dimensional inspections on components ranging from handheld to full power plant scale
- Perform metrology tasks independently or as part of a team following established baseline plans and senior guidance
- Optimize measurement efficiency by utilizing logical portable 3D metrology sequences and industry best practices
- Maintain well-organized files and datasets to ensure ease of review throughout the SPARC project
- Evaluate measurement uncertainty and analyze metrology data for accuracy to communicate results to stakeholders
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop solutions that balance precision with demanding project schedules
- Exercise proper care and maintenance of metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and operability
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience using laser trackers with non-contact laser line scanners
- 2+ years of experience using SpatialAnalyzer metrology software for 3D data collection and advanced analyses
- 2+ years of mid- to large-scale metrology experience in a manufacturing or jobsite setting
- Experience with precision alignment of large, delicate, and complex structures in dense spaces
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, Solidworks, or CATIA) to extract information for inspections
- Intermediate understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Ability to work at heights (up to 35 feet) using MEWPs, scaffolding, or ladders
- Ability to work in confined, tight, or awkward spaces and lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in an industrial environment containing heat, noise, high voltage, and strong magnets
