About the role

Responsibilities

  • Use laser trackers and portable 3D metrology equipment to perform precision alignments and dimensional inspections on components ranging from handheld to full power plant scale.
  • Execute metrology tasks independently or as part of a team according to the baseline metrology plan.
  • Optimize measurement efficiency by utilizing logical portable 3D metrology sequences and industry best practices.
  • Analyze and review metrology data for accuracy and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate measurement uncertainty and its relation to the accuracy of results.
  • Maintain well-organized files and datasets for the SPARC project.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of metrology equipment to ensure operability.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop unique solutions that balance precision with demanding project schedules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience using laser trackers for mid- to large-scale 3D metrology in a manufacturing or jobsite setting.
  • 5+ years of experience using portable metrology software (e.g., SpatialAnalyzer, Polyworks, Verisurf) for 3D data collection and analysis.
  • Experience with non-contact laser line scanners for inspecting complex shapes.
  • Intermediate understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights (up to 35 feet) using fall protection, MEWPs, or ladders.
  • Ability to work in confined, tight, or awkward spaces and within industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • 7+ years of experience with laser trackers or SpatialAnalyzer.
  • Experience operating multiple instruments in tandem for single alignments.
  • Experience with measurement arms, photogrammetry, or optical CMMs.
  • 3+ years of experience using CAD (e.g., NX, Solidworks, CATIA) to design custom metrology tooling.
