About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, and optimize CMM inspection routines primarily using PC-DMIS to ensure accurate and repeatable measurement.
  • Oversee first article inspection (FAI) and incoming inspection processes using automated and manual methods.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to define robust inspection strategies.
  • Support investigations of nonconforming products through root cause analysis, containment, and corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain Measurement System Analysis (MSA) programs, including Gauge R&R studies.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to monitor supplier performance and identify variation.
  • Generate and maintain inspection work instructions, standard work, and control plans.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining requirements and validating measurement capability.
  • Train and coach team members in metrology principles, GD&T, and PC-DMIS programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device, aerospace, or precision engineering preferred).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with PC-DMIS programming and CMM operation.
  • Advanced capability in interpreting engineering drawings and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong understanding of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gauge R&R.
  • Proven experience applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with manual inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
  • Full Australian work rights are required.
