Metrologist

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, calibration, and qualification of laboratory instruments
• Prepare and manage the master Preventive Maintenance/Calibration schedule
• Plan, execute, and review instrument calibration and qualification activities according to the masterplan
• Draft and review instrument operation, maintenance, and calibration procedures (SOPs)
• Initiate change controls for new and existing instruments and their associated procedures
• Document all raw data and observations concurrently in notebooks or applicable systems
• Notify supervisors of any anomalous or out-of-specification (OOC) results and deviations
• Manage instrument repair requests and schedule visits for outside contractors
• Maintain adequate labeling and calibration status for all laboratory equipment
• Order and maintain spare parts to ensure continuous laboratory support
• Provide training and mentoring to QC Chemists, Lab Technicians, and less experienced Metrologists

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting laboratory instruments
• Proven ability to perform preventative maintenance and instrument calibration
• Experience with the qualification of laboratory instruments
• Strong knowledge of and adherence to cGMP standards
• Experience in SOP drafting and review
• Ability to initiate and manage change controls
