About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts to prepare viewers for the day
- Deliver urgent, immediate weather information during severe weather events
- Create content simultaneously for television, radio partners, and digital platforms
- Utilize available technology to tell intriguing and engaging weather stories
- Deploy to the field during significant weather events for live reporting
- Gather information and summarize complex facts for broadcast
Requirements
- Professional or academic on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather
- In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting principles
- Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational presentation style
- Ability to interpret and translate high-powered radar data
- Experience with common television weather systems
- Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics
Preferred Qualifications
- NWA and CBM seals
- Related military experience
