About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts to viewers
- Deliver urgent weather information during severe weather events to ensure community safety
- Create and deliver weather content across TV, radio, and digital platforms
- Utilize advanced technology and tools to tell engaging weather stories
- Deploy to the field for live reporting during significant weather events
- Interpret radar data and summarize complex information for broadcast
Requirements
- Previous on-air experience is required
- In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
- Proven experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
- Proficiency with WSI graphics and common television weather systems
- Ability to interpret and translate high-powered radar data
- Strong organizational skills and a dynamic, conversational on-air presence
- Ability to perform live field reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with radar data interpretation
- Related military training and experience
