About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and document manufacturing processes and process control techniques.
  • Implement testing procedures and perform metallurgical and non-destructive testing.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase throughput.
  • Collaborate with design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effective production.
  • Provide technical support to the production department to troubleshoot and resolve material-related problems.
  • Perform failure analysis on raw materials and conduct mechanical engineering projects.
  • Operate and maintain metallurgical testing equipment, including X-ray and XRF analyzers.
  • Manage material properties and provide guidance regarding stainless steel and thin gage metal welding.

Requirements

  • Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering degree (or equivalent diploma) from a Canadian university or college.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in metallurgical testing (hardness, tensile, yield, and strain analysis).
  • Experience with X-ray equipment and handheld portable XRF analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of microstructure analysis, steel grain structures, and heating/cooling curves.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to interpret and apply SAE, ASTM, and customer-specific standards.
  • Knowledge of stainless steel (304/316), copper/nickel plating, and nylon materials.
