About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide materials and process support to Boeing Commercial Airplane programs throughout the full product lifecycle
  • Define metallic materials and process requirements for engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance
  • Review metallic materials and process specifications to control design and certify structural hardware
  • Approve test reports and manufacturing planning to qualify suppliers for critical parts like forgings, castings, and machined parts
  • Identify impacts of non-conformances and implement corrective or preventative actions
  • Conduct engineering lab and failure analysis to determine the cause of fractured metallic aircraft parts
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to future Boeing products
  • Collaborate with Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams to solve materials and process challenges

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience in the Aerospace or Manufacturing industries
  • Demonstrated experience with aerospace-grade metallic materials such as Titanium, Aluminum, Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES), or High Strength Steels (HSS)
  • Knowledge of processes including Machining, Forming, Heat Treat, Shot Peen, Forging, or Casting

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience (Mid-level) or 9+ years (Senior level)
  • Direct experience in Materials & Process Engineering
  • Previous experience working on airplane programs
  • Strong professional communication skills
  • Technical expertise in metallic materials processes and manufacturing
