Metal Structures Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform preparation, setup, and operation of thermal processing tools and equipment, including Super Plastic Forming (SPF) dies and blanks
• Cut and inspect materials to ensure compliance with quality specifications
• Interpret standard work instructions, blueprints, charts, and job layouts to complete assigned tasks
• Maintain machine functionality through routine preventative maintenance and necessary adjustments
• Diagnose and correct malfunctions in machining and assembly processes
• Set automated welding machines to prescribed settings and produce test samples for verification
• Execute product finishing processes including scraping, grinding, deburring, riveting, and assembly
• Utilize precision measuring instruments and gauges to verify part dimensions and quality requirements
• Coordinate the movement of materials and tools within the cell, including operating electric powered elevating equipment
• Collaborate with Engineering and Planning teams to develop new production procedures and aids

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, schematics, and diagrams
• 3+ years of experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
• 3+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8-hour shift
• Basic computer competency
• Must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the fabrication of airplane parts or temporary tooling
• Experience with 5-axis NC/CNC Machining (Robotics, Water jet)
• Experience working with heavy structures, including locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures to aircraft
