Metadata Manager

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the creation, maintenance, and governance of metadata standards, including business definitions, data quality rules, and lineage.
• Enforce metadata standards and policies through technology, governed processes, and interpersonal coaching.
• Design and develop scalable, efficient, and secure metadata frameworks to organize and communicate metadata across the organization.
• Monitor metadata system performance, diagnose issues, and implement optimizations to ensure reliable operations.
• Process, enrich, and integrate metadata from diverse sources to ensure accuracy and consistency across the data landscape.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to support strategic goals.
• Partner with Data Stewards across domains to coordinate and align metadata standards organization-wide.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, plus at least 5 years of progressive data governance or data management experience.
• Alternatively, a combined 9 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including 5 years in data governance or management.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Expertise in metadata management software and databases.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.
• Familiarity with data cataloging and lineage tools.
