MEP Preconstruction Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage MEP preconstruction activities including estimating, design management, and procurement
• Communicate with equipment vendors, design engineers, clients, and subcontractors
• Prepare comparative analyses of estimates and explain variances to stakeholders
• Coordinate with preconstruction teams to develop complete MEP scopes of work
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor bid proposals and provide award recommendations
• Train and develop preconstruction engineers in technical and non-technical MEP aspects
• Lead responses to RFPs and represent the company at meetings and industry events
• Create, update, and present project deliverables and tools to clients
• Support meetings with owners, architects, and engineers during preconstruction

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, Construction Management, or relevant MEP experience
• 2–5 years of preconstruction experience in MEP or building automation systems
• Ability to read and understand electrical, HVAC, plumbing, architectural, and civil plans
• Familiarity with standard MEP systems and equipment concepts
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading or developing teams of MEP Project Engineers or Estimators
• Proven ability to encourage high performance and enable others to act
• Experience presenting ideas clearly and handling confrontation constructively
• Commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth
