MEP Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates, take-offs, and cost plans for tenders and internal budgeting
• Develop commercially robust bid packages and technical proposals including scope breakdowns and pricing schedules
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to identify value-engineering opportunities
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify project-specific risks and develop contingency allowances
• Support development of early cost forecasts and lifecycle cost models
• Provide technical MEP discipline knowledge for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Ensure estimates comply with relevant UK and industry standards
• Communicate effectively with clients, design consultants, and supply chain partners

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in MEP estimating, cost planning, or quantity surveying
• Degree or HND in building services, mechanical/electrical engineering, or quantity surveying
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials, and installation practices
• Ability to interpret CAD/Revit drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in estimating software and spreadsheets (e.g., CostX, BuildSoft, Microsoft Excel)
• Excellent numerical and commercial awareness
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualifications such as CIOB, RICS, IMechE, or IET
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and ERP commercial modules
