Mentor/Advisor Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide individual advising and mentoring for nursing students in the Project-Beyond-2 (PB2) program
• Support professional nurse mentoring programs and coordinate structured activities for project participants
• Facilitate summer pre-admission and academic intensive programs for incoming freshmen
• Conduct group and one-to-one mentoring training sessions for participants and mentors
• Track mentoring activities, maintain mentor-mentee networks, and monitor academic progress
• Link students with professional minority nursing organizations and community partners
• Assist the Project Director with funding sustainability efforts and meeting preparation
• Maintain records regarding social determinants of education and health (SDE/SDH)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
• 3 years of relevant experience, including teaching and program development
• Experience in clinical precepting
• Extensive experience mentoring diverse student populations
• Experience working with social determinants of education and health (SDE/SDH)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Knowledge of the Milwaukee and Marquette University community
