Mentor/Advisor Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide individual advising and mentoring for students in the Project-Beyond-2 (PB2) program
• Support the recruitment, retention, and academic success of diverse and underrepresented minority nursing students
• Coordinate structured activities, including summer pre-admission and academic intensive programs
• Conduct group and one-to-one mentoring training sessions for participants and mentors
• Track mentoring activities and maintain accurate electronic records of student academic progress
• Link students with professional minority nursing organizations and community partners
• Assist the Project Director with funding sustainability efforts and the preparation of meeting materials and presentations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
• 3 years of relevant experience, including teaching and program development
• Experience in clinical precepting
• Experience with program planning and coordination
• Extensive experience mentoring diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Knowledge of the Milwaukee and Marquette University community
