Mental Health Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate care to patients with mental health conditions
• Monitor patient behavior and accurately document changes in health or mood
• Safely assist patients through behavioral escalations utilizing de-escalation techniques
• Maintain a healthy, structured, and safe physical environment for patients and staff
• Communicate patient behavior information to the treatment team
• Encourage and facilitate patient participation in therapeutic activities
• Orient new patients to the facility, program, and setting

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong observational skills and physical stamina
• Patient, judgment-free demeanor
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum six months of experience in behavioral health or an acute hospital
