Mental Health Specialist III

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the unit team providing care for all age groups within the Acute Psychological Services Department
• Assist the Staff Nurse with patient care planning, staff assignments, and the orientation of new staff
• Provide direct care based on established patient care plans under the supervision of the Staff Nurse
• Observe patient behaviors and notify appropriate staff members of any changes or concerns
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that respects patient rights
• Assist patients with activities of daily living to encourage independent behavior
• Monitor the milieu for changes in patient behavior and observe interactions between patients and visitors

Requirements

• Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in the mental health field OR
• Two (2) years of college majoring in a relevant mental health or human services field plus one (1) year of full-time relevant experience
