About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients of all age groups within the Acute Psychological Services unit in accordance with facility policy and procedure
  • Assist Staff Nurses with patient care planning, staff assignments, and the orientation of new personnel
  • Observe patient behaviors and notify appropriate staff members of any changes or concerns
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment that respects patient rights
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living while encouraging independent behavior
  • Collect routine urine specimens and take vital signs, including blood pressure and weight, as directed

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of relevant full-time paid experience in the mental health field OR one (1) year of experience plus at least two (2) years of college in a relevant field
  • Completion of 24-36 verified college credits in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field (depending on experience level)
  • Ability to assist with activities of daily living
  • Ability to collect specimens and take vital signs
