About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support services within the Acute Psychiatric Services unit to assist in the delivery of care.
- Conduct initial triage of consumers and families upon arrival and provide immediate reports to the Program Coordinator.
- Perform direct, in-person observation for individuals at risk as directed by physicians.
- Document all telephone calls and maintain accurate client records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and telephone logs.
- Manage the transfer of consumers into and out of the unit.
- Assist Public Safety with searches for consumers and belongings during admissions to the Extended Care Evaluation Bed (ECEB) area.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of relevant full-time paid experience in a mental health field OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and experience documenting in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience working in an inpatient or crisis setting.
- Ability to accurately enter information into databases and utilize registration software.
