Mental Health Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term, solution-focused mental health counseling for students to address personal, emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.
• Conduct initial assessments, inventories, and appropriate referrals.
• Coordinate with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care and community-based referrals.
• Maintain quality assurance in service delivery, including documentation and care coordination.
• Provide alcohol and drug prevention programming and counseling for students referred through the Dean of Students.
• Assist the Director of Counseling in planning mental health awareness initiatives and educational programming for students, faculty, and staff.
• Adhere to state mental health ethical standards and institutional expectations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
• Florida licensure as a mental health provider.
• Minimum of three years of experience working with college students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with people with disabilities.
