Mental Health Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide direct individual and group counseling services to students as mandated by IESP/IEP
• Address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and autism
• Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to inform treatment planning
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and mental health professionals
• Maintain meticulous documentation in accordance with DOE regulations and HIPAA
• Participate in IESP/IEP meetings to offer psychological insights

Requirements

• NYS license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with children and adolescents
• Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms
• NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in school-based or educational settings
• Specialized training in CBT, DBT, play therapy, or family therapy
• Experience with psychological assessment and testing
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages prevalent in Brooklyn
