About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling using a brief treatment framework
  • Perform crisis intervention and conduct appropriate student assessments
  • Provide referrals for students whose needs exceed the scope of Counseling Services
  • Consult with Wellness Center providers, faculty, students, and staff
  • Deliver wellness education and outreach through public presentations on campus
  • Maintain current counseling practices by attending professional conferences and training
  • For Counselor II: Act as acting Director of Counseling Services as needed, including providing supervision to LAC counselors

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field
  • Valid LAC or LPC license in the state of Arizona
  • Strong knowledge of DSM-5 and experience in assessment and diagnosis
  • Proficiency in creating and modifying PowerPoint presentations
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date and active professional liability insurance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a university counseling center
  • Experience providing services to a diverse student population
  • Experience with college counseling programming or working with adults in an outpatient setting
  • Registered as a clinical supervisor on the AZBBHE site (for Counselor II)
