Mental Health Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide essential day-to-day care and supervision within a Domiciliary setting on a 24/7 basis
• Monitor and document client behavior, progress, and any changes in health or status
• Lead therapeutic and recreational activities and facilitate group sessions
• Assist with patient intake and discharge processes, including searching for contraband and recording valuables
• Support clients with daily living activities, personal care, and emotional support
• Respond to crises and provide immediate support under the supervision of licensed professionals
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment in compliance with fire safety and infection control standards
• Collaborate with medical and clinical staff to implement care plans and ensure continuity of care

Requirements

• One year of direct patient care experience in a rehabilitation or therapeutic setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years of college study, including at least 12 semester hours in health, behavioral, or social sciences
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card
• Ability to pass/possess a VA Public Trust Clearance
• Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 lbs
