About the role

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of design, from initial ideation and modeling to design for manufacturability and performance validation.
  • Model performance characteristics of drop ejection designs, including thermal, electrical, fluidic, and mechanical parameters.
  • Design new microfluidic MEMS drop ejection devices and conduct experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
  • Test and characterize ink/design interactions, focusing on drop weight, printhead energy, ejection reliability, and printhead life.
  • Advance and integrate material science innovations to improve drop performance and printhead reliability.
  • Develop and advance test solutions to measure and monitor the performance of drops and printheads.
  • Develop microfluidic technology for applications in life sciences, micro-biomedical science, and advanced micro-sensing markets.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including wafer fabrication, ink chemists, firmware, and electrical circuit designers, to validate new solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, basic chemistry, and basic circuits.
  • Programming proficiency in at least one language and experience with modeling software.
  • Strong skills in analytical decision-making, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in practical experiment design and applied statistics.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, global, and multicultural teams.
