About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and flight test of advanced aerospace systems, including hypersonic reentry bodies and rocket systems
  • Develop multi-fidelity aerodynamic and flight performance models using analytic/computational methods and wind tunnel testing
  • Conduct detailed aerodynamic characteristic analyses, including vehicle performance, stability, and control
  • Create and optimize 3DOF/6DOF trajectory simulations for complex multi-body flight systems
  • Apply multi-disciplinary design and optimization methods for conceptual design trade space analysis
  • Work within high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams to meet mission requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DoE) Q clearance
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or C/C++

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a highly related field
  • Experience in applied aerodynamics, flight mechanics, or trajectory simulation
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or aerothermal/ablation tools
  • Experience with high-performance computing and technical software development
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, and schedule-driven environment
