Member of the Technical Staff - Product Engineer

About the Company

Stand is building a new class of global property protection by using advanced physics and AI to model catastrophic risk at the asset level. We automate underwriting and mitigation to turn scientific modeling into actionable insurance decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own critical systems across the insurance lifecycle, including policy, underwriting, claims, and payments
• Translate complex domain problems into shippable production systems
• Productize models, pipelines, and tools that impact risk, revenue, and customer behavior
• Take responsibility for entire problem spaces including architecture, quality, and reliability
• Partner with stakeholders to shape scope and define success metrics

Requirements

• Proven experience owning and shipping production systems using modern programming languages (Python, Ruby, Rust, etc.)
• Experience deploying and monitoring applications on modern PaaS or cloud platforms (Heroku, Vercel, Railway, etc.)
• Track record of end-to-end project ownership with direct stakeholder interaction
• Practical experience using LLMs to improve engineering workflows or system design
• Ability to learn new tools, frameworks, and domains quickly
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (TN, O-1A, or H-1B transfers with 3+ years remaining considered)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated or risk-sensitive industries such as insurance, fintech, or climate tech
• Experience operating in early-stage or scaling startups
• Pragmatic agile mindset focused on outcomes
