Member of Technical Staff — ML Infra (Data)

About the Company

Nuance Labs is building photorealistic, real-time AI avatars with emotional intelligence: a full-duplex audiovisual system that can listen, speak, react, interrupt, and respond like a real person.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale data pipelines for ingestion, processing, filtering, and curation of multimodal training data
• Take research-grade data processing code and turn it into robust, production-level pipelines
• Optimize pipeline throughput and efficiency at scale
• Build and maintain data quality systems including deduplication, filtering, and validation
• Manage petabyte-scale datasets, storage architecture, and lineage tracking
• Work closely with researchers to translate data requirements into scalable systems
• Build tooling and infrastructure for efficient data access and reproducible processing

Requirements

• Proven experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines in production
• Strong proficiency with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark, Ray, or Dask
• Solid software engineering fundamentals with clean, testable, and maintainable code
• Familiarity with ML data pipelines and how data quality affects model training
• Ability to move fast from prototype to production

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multimodal data (video, audio) and libraries like FFmpeg or decord
• Experience building data pipelines for large-scale model training
• Familiarity with data versioning and lineage tools like DVC, Delta Lake, or Apache Iceberg
• Experience with streaming data pipelines or online data processing
• Prior work at an AI lab or data-intensive company
