Member of Technical Staff (Infrastructure Engineer, Compute Infrastructure)

About the Company

Inherent is a well-funded, fast-growing neo-lab dedicated to developing AI that explores “unknown unknowns” to uncover paradigm-shifting research contributions. We are building a new frontier lab focused on recursive self-improvement and human-machine teaming to accelerate scientific discovery.

Responsibilities

• Run and evolve GPU clusters including scheduling, utilisation, debugging, and performance
• Scale the Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and cloud stack end-to-end
• Establish operational excellence through incident response, postmortem culture, and on-call health
• Build agent-driven automation for cluster lifecycle, provisioning, and remediation
• Partner with the research team to optimise the platform they rely on daily

Requirements

• Experience operating infrastructure at scale, preferably for LLM workloads
• Depth in Kubernetes internals, cluster provisioning, and orchestration systems
• Proficiency across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, containers, and cloud environments
• Strong systems thinking regarding reliability, performance, and operational clarity
• Interest in adopting AI agents for company operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud and cluster networking expertise (VPC, BGP, CNI, eBPF, service mesh)
• Experience with GPUs and CUDA
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or similar
• Track record leading multi-quarter infrastructure initiatives end-to-end
