About the Company

Gradient Labs is building the AI customer operations platform for financial services. Founded in 2023, the team consists of builders from companies like Monzo, Wise, Mastercard, Revolut, and Google, working to eliminate manual work across customer support and back-office operations using specialist AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate AI agents in production by designing and maintaining agentic systems powered by LLMs.
• Translate business problems into agentic workflows by working directly with enterprise customers.
• Build robust evaluation infrastructure and structured eval suites to measure accuracy, safety, and latency.
• Enhance agent skills by curating datasets and iterating on improvements.
• Shape the internal AI platform by contributing to shared libraries, patterns, and standards for prompting and tool orchestration.
• Experiment and prototype new approaches in NLP and generative AI.
• Analyze customer queries and support data to identify new automation opportunities.
• Drive technical decisions and scope work independently.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on Machine Learning, NLP, or applied AI.
• Proven experience with end-to-end ownership of production systems.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-based features or agent systems into production.
• Strong Python skills for writing clean, testable, and observable production-grade code.
• Ability to reason about technical trade-offs such as accuracy vs latency and cost vs quality.
• Product-driven mindset with experience working closely with PMs or customers.
• Preference for fast iteration over long research cycles.
