Responsibilities

• Design and run biosecurity evaluations and red-teaming pipelines for biological foundation models
• Prototype pipelines for pathogen detection, sequence classification, and risk scoring
• Define safety architecture including access controls, gating, and monitoring
• Translate technical capabilities into deployable systems like biosurveillance platforms
• Drive partnerships and external engagement with government agencies and stakeholders
• Identify new product and platform opportunities in global biological risk infrastructure

Requirements

• Strong technical background in machine learning, computational biology, or biosecurity
• Experience building or working with ML systems or computational biology
• Ability to design evaluations and benchmarks for biological data (genomics, proteins, etc.)
• Strong intuition for adversarial behavior and misuse risks
• High agency and ability to define and solve ambiguous problems
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with government and policy stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pathogen genomics, bio-surveillance, or DNA synthesis screening
• Background in AI safety, red-teaming, or model evaluations
• Familiarity with hybrid systems (e.g., BLAST + ML)
• Experience with models like Evo, ESM, or AlphaFold
• Background in biodefense, intelligence, or global health security
