About the Company

Beacon is acquiring and operating a portfolio of vertical SaaS companies. Instead of scaling by adding people, Beacon scales by building a sophisticated software platform that manages portfolio operations, value creation, and deal sourcing through a cross-portfolio datalake and an intelligent action layer.

Responsibilities

• Own a piece of the core stack end-to-end, including design, implementation, operations, and long-term technical direction.
• Build and maintain the data platform using Iceberg with Snowflake or Databricks.
• Develop core services and APIs for identity, access control, audit, and workflow orchestration.
• Implement multi-tenant isolation across data, compute, and credential boundaries.
• Design and execute workflow and action runtimes with idempotency and rollback paths.
• Build observability and evaluation harnesses for traditional services and model-driven workflows.
• Ensure system safety through autonomy tiers, kill switches, and blast-radius caps.

Requirements

• Senior engineering depth equivalent to Staff or Principal level.
• Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Deep intuition regarding distributed systems, including idempotency, partial failure, and eventual consistency.
• Experience building or operating modern data infrastructure (e.g., Kafka, Spark, dbt, Iceberg, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Platform-oriented mindset with a focus on developer experience and API design.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and make high-impact architectural decisions.
• Interest in modern ML and the ability to build infrastructure around models.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Staff or Principal Engineer experience at a high-bar engineering organization.
• Experience with Iceberg, Polaris, Snowflake, or Databricks at scale.
• Background in multi-tenant SaaS or platform infrastructure.
• Production experience with LLM-driven systems, including evals and observability.
• Background in offline RL, contextual bandits, or sequential decision-making.
• Open-source contributions to data infrastructure or developer tooling.
