Member of Technical Staff - Backend

Responsibilities

• Build core systems for deploying machine learning capabilities in training and production
• Build metrics systems for rapid iteration and introspection
• Drive technology and architectural choices for core services
• Design and build integrations for ML inference, monitoring, LLM interactions, and tax-related business logic
• Build database layers and data integration strategies with external vendor APIs
• Collaborate on effective CI/CD systems
• Engage directly with accountants to understand product needs

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working on backend systems in a meaningful ownership role
• Experience with ML concepts and integrating ML inference/monitoring into business applications
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience with cloud providers (GCP/AWS)
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless)
• Experience with database and storage layers (Postgres, SQL, S3/GCS, Redis)
• Ability to work fully in person 5 days per week in downtown San Francisco
