About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead melting process installations, rebuilds, and equipment start-up activities
- Provide guidance through fabrication, installation, and construction of melting process equipment
- Manage logistics for incoming equipment orders and serve as the primary contact for vendors
- Investigate and recommend equipment modifications to the technology design team
- Provide onsite installation leadership and equipment checkout, including vendor support
- Offer CAD support and collaborate with facility engineering on layouts and documentation
- Travel to Corning’s worldwide operations for project meetings, installation, and commissioning
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Ceramic, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical)
- 5+ years of experience in construction, design engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, or process engineering
- Strong hands-on application skills focused on the construction and installation of manufacturing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply them to field installations
- Proven project management, organization, and planning skills
- Ability to work effectively in a global environment and as part of a large technical project team
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes
- Experience using structured problem-solving processes (e.g., KT)
- A self-starter mindset with a desire to be hands-on in a manufacturing environment
