Medical Technologist, Microbiology

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and esoteric microbiology tests, including antibody identification
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
• Execute quality control procedures and implement necessary corrective actions
• Process patient samples and ensure they meet departmental acceptability standards
• Evaluate and interpret test results, ensuring critical values are reported immediately
• Maintain accurate documentation and enter data into LIS/HIS systems
• Adhere to all hospital safety policies, standard precautions, and compliance requirements

Requirements

• B.S. in biological science and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program
• MT (ASCP) certification, MT eligibility, or equivalent
• Proficiency in using LIS/HIS systems
• Working knowledge of medical laboratory technical procedures and applications

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of pertinent clinical laboratory experience
• Experience using automated and conventional laboratory equipment
• Demonstrated ability to use hospital information systems
