Medical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis and determine acceptability according to departmental policy
• Perform standard, specialized automated, and non-automated laboratory techniques
• Evaluate and interpret results, ensuring critical values are identified and reported 100% of the time
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including performing calibrations and troubleshooting malfunctions
• Maintain accurate records and enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Manage inventory and supplies for the assigned section to ensure optimum levels
• Adhere to all hospital safety policies, standard precautions, and corporate compliance requirements

Requirements

• B.S. in biological science and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program
• MT (ASCP) certification, MT eligibility, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of medical laboratory technical procedures, concepts, and applications
• Proficiency in using laboratory/hospital information systems (LIS/HIS)
• Ability to operate automated and conventional laboratory equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of pertinent clinical laboratory experience
