Medical Technologist, Hematology Lab

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and esoteric clinical analyses in the Hematology Lab using various methodologies and state-of-the-art instrumentation.
• Manage specimen processing, including receiving, centrifugation, aliquotting, and distribution.
• Ensure quality control, instrument maintenance, and method development to support a broad menu of diagnostic tests.
• Analyze test and quality control results for errors or deviations and perform necessary troubleshooting.
• Report all test results accurately within the laboratory information system according to established turnaround times.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory agency requirements and laboratory policies.
• Assist in the training of laboratory personnel, students, and residents.

Requirements

• Must satisfy CLIA ‘88 qualification requirements for high complexity testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field from an accredited institution.
• ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or equivalent, or eligibility for certification.
• Proficiency in using automated and conventional laboratory equipment and testing methodologies.
• Experience with laboratory/hospital information systems.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work in high-volume, stressful environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of pertinent laboratory experience specifically within a Hematology lab.
