Medical Social Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide medical social services under the direction of a physician and Interdisciplinary Group to assist patients and families in understanding social and emotional factors related to health status.
• Assist patients, significant others, and the healthcare team in understanding personal, emotional, environmental, and social factors related to health.
• Contribute to the development of a comprehensive, integrated Plan of Care for patients on a daily basis.
• Instruct healthcare team members on available community resources to assist patients as needed.
• Help patients develop effective coping mechanisms related to their health status.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
• Current Driver's License and valid vehicle insurance.
• Access to a dependable vehicle or reliable public transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of social work experience in a healthcare setting.
• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of residence.
