Medical Records Personnel

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory agencies
• Maintain and keep current the Admittance Log Book
• Assemble and complete all new resident charts
• Maintain resident charts according to Medical Records Procedure Manual
• Establish and maintain a chart alphabetical filing system
• Follow procedures for releasing resident information
• Handle discharged residents’ charts and monitor for uncompleted records
• Enter information in the Death Registry and file death certificates
• Maintain master inventory list and conduct daily inventory counts
• Verify supply deliveries against packing slips
• Review and code resident charges daily

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience in a health care facility
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience in skilled nursing, sub-acute care, or memory care settings
• Basic clerical and computer skills including typing and data entry
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
• English fluency required

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA or CHHA licensure
• Other state required training
