Medical Psychotherapist Pain Medicine

Responsibilities

• Perform psychotherapeutic diagnostics for patients with chronic pain syndromes and comorbid mental illnesses
• Conduct patient education and individual or group psychotherapy
• Teach techniques for pain management, mindfulness, self-care, and stress management
• Manage psychopharmacotherapy including indication, adjustment, and follow-up
• Collaborate interdisciplinary with pain medicine, neurosurgery, psychology, nursing, and therapy departments
• Participate in case discussions and multimodal therapy planning
• Contribute to the conceptual development of pain medicine services

Requirements

• Completed specialist training in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy or Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy
• Alternatively, specialist training in a somatic field with the additional designation of Psychotherapy
• Ideally experience treating patients with chronic pain syndromes
• Proficiency in psychopharmacological therapy methods
• Interest in biopsychosocial treatment concepts
• Strong social competence, empathy, and communication skills
• Independent, structured, and responsible working style
