About the role
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Cancer Care Leadership to ensure high-quality radiation safety, equipment monitoring, and treatment delivery.
- Perform calibration of dose meters and radiation equipment, including accelerator monitor unit calibration.
- Conduct beam data acquisition for treatment planning and prepare data for treatment planning systems.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and organizational regulations for radiation safety.
- Assist in acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and re-commissioning after major maintenance.
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics component reviews.
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology personnel and oncologists regarding patient care.
- Participate in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics and dosimetry staff.
Requirements
- M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP-accredited residency.
- ABR certification in Radiation Oncology Physics or eligibility to achieve certification within 3 years of hire.
- Ability to apply for and maintain relevant State licensing and/or registration.
- Willingness to relocate to the Houston, TX area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs.
- Candidates who have passed Part-I and Part-II ABR Exams.
- Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications.
