About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform calibration of dose meters and radiation equipment, including accelerator monitor unit calibration
- Conduct beam data acquisition for treatment planning and prepare data for treatment planning systems
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and organizational regulations for radiation safety
- Assist in acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and major maintenance re-commissioning
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics component reviews
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology personnel regarding patient care and treatment
- Collaborate with information services for software management of the department planning system
- Participate in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics and dosimetry staff
Requirements
- Bachelors, M.S., or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field
- Completion of a CAMPEP-accredited residency
- Clinical experience in a medical physics setting
- ABR Exam eligibility (candidates must be able to achieve board certification within 3 years of hire)
- Willingness to relocate to Yakima, WA or the surrounding area
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates who have passed Part-I and/or Part-II of the ABR Exams
- Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs
- Experience with computer system administration for patient record and verify database applications
