About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality radiation therapy through calibration of dose meters and radiation equipment
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics component reviews
- Assist in acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and major maintenance re-commissioning
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and organizational regulations for radiation safety
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology personnel and oncologists regarding patient care
- Collaborate with information services for software management of the department planning system
- Participate in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for dosimetry and therapy staff
Requirements
- M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP-accredited residency
- ABR certification in Radiation Oncology Physics or eligibility to achieve certification within 3 years of hire
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to Savannah, GA or the surrounding area
- Ability to apply for and maintain relevant State licensing and/or registration
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates who have passed Part-II and Part-III ABR Exams
- Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs
- Experience with computer system administration for patient record and verify database applications
