About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care duties under the supervision of an LPN/RN
- Take vital signs, including height, weight, and head circumference measurements
- Perform electrocardiograms (EKG) and auditory/visual testing
- Assist with medical procedures such as sigmoidoscopies, colposcopies, and biopsies
- Collect specimens and perform venipuncture/phlebotomy
- Maintain patient charts, clinic logs, and databases
- Keep examination rooms clean and organized
- Ensure patients and visitors are treated with dignity, respect, and prompt attention
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate from an accredited medical assistant school
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Current Infection Control Certificate
- Demonstrated competence in EKG, venipuncture, and taking vitals
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish
- Certification as a Phlebotomist or EKG technician
