About the role

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment, conducting performance checks and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Establish and monitor quality improvement programs to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Interpret, verify, and report test results using laboratory information systems and electronic health records.
  • Notify medical providers of critical values according to established procedures.
  • Perform venipunctures and specimen collection, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transport.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, perform data analysis, and prepare reports for quality assessment.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with data entry for laboratory, insurance, and billing information.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist license.
  • A bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science plus one year of experience as a medical technologist; OR a bachelor's degree in a biological, physical, or chemical science plus two years of experience as a medical technologist.
  • ASCP or AMT board certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary medical clinic team.
  • Familiarity with collaborative care models and quality improvement efforts.
