Medical Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in sections including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
• Determine specimen suitability, prepare specimens for analysis, and ensure physiologic properties are maintained
• Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary
• Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain laboratory instruments
• Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks
• Identify causes of common problems, implement corrections, and perform simple repairs
• Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products and maintain proper records
• Prepare specimens for transport and manage biological waste disposal
• Maintain strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by NAACLS, ABHES, or an educational program acceptable to the AMT
• Certification or registration via ASCP or AMT
• One year of post-graduation experience
• Valid US work authorization
