Medical Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests
• Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments
• Perform periodic maintenance and assist with instrument calibration
• Assist with proper storage of hazardous materials and monitor reagent/supplies inventory
• Follow laboratory procedures for patient specimen handling, processing, and reporting
• Perform quality control assessments and routine instrument maintenance
• Maintain personal skills competencies to comply with licensing and accrediting standards
• Assist laboratory manager with ongoing regulatory clerical duties
• Perform equipment maintenance, bench cleanup, and decontamination

Requirements

• MLT/MLS certification
• Current National Certification by ASCP, NCA, or equivalent registry
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with molecular biology techniques and assays
• 1 year of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory
