Medical Director Emergency Department

Responsibilities

• Lead and role-model the delivery of emergency medicine services at Epworth Richmond
• Provide leadership, governance, and strategic vision to a team of 80+ physicians, medical officers, and registrars
• Oversee direct clinical services across thirty-one treatment spaces, including resuscitation bays and fast-track areas
• Provide expert supervision, advice, and mentoring to medical staff to support safe, evidence-based care
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and inpatient services to improve patient flow and handover safety
• Maintain strong budgetary oversight and contribute to the financial viability of the Emergency service
• Represent the department on required hospital committees and participate in clinical reviews

Requirements

• Fellowship with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM)
• Current, unencumbered Specialist AHPRA registration
• Significant experience in the provision of emergency medicine services
• Demonstrated knowledge of clinical governance and associated frameworks
• Valid Australian working rights

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a medical leadership role
• Experience working within a private sector emergency department
