Medical Device Reprocessor

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, sterilization, and cleaning of medical instruments and equipment using high temperature steam and low temperature ethylene oxide.
• Execute equipment re-use decontamination processes at multiple stations with high attention to detail.
• Identify, sort, label, and inventory over 1,000 different surgical instruments.
• Manage inventory control and prepare supplies following specific medical procedures.
• Maintain the mobile Respiratory Therapy crash cart with necessary emergency supplies.
• Enter and update departmental records accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Post-secondary certificate in Sterile Supplies Processing (including a four-week practicum) or completion of the CSAO course.
• Minimum of one year of full-time equivalent MDRD experience.
• Strong knowledge of sterilization and decontamination procedures and microbiology principles.
• Proficiency in operating medical processing equipment.
• Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Physical ability to lift between 6 kg and 10 kg.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to understand technical manuals and work orders.

• Membership with the Central Service Association of Ontario (CSAO).
