Medical Coder

Responsibilities

• Complete and proper coding of inpatient treatment cases based on patient files using German coding guidelines (DKR), ICD-10-GM, and OPS catalogs
• Coordinate closely with physicians and other service providers to ensure correct and complete documentation
• Ensure timely and billing-relevant case processing
• Organize and continuously develop high-quality, structured documentation and coding processes
• Advise and support medical and nursing staff on DRG-relevant documentation
• Participate in length-of-stay management and identification of optimization potential
• Conduct training and information sessions regarding coding guidelines and documentation topics
• Support internal audits and prepare documents for payers and MD procedures

Requirements

• Successfully completed training as a medical coder (Kodierfachkraft)
• Very good knowledge of the DRG system, DKR, ICD-10-GM, and OPS
• Ideally several years of professional experience in medical documentation and coding in a hospital setting
• Experience with clinical information systems and coding support software
• Strong analytical thinking and affinity for medical and administrative processes
• Independent, structured, and responsible way of working
• High resilience, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team
